概要 This study investigates factors influencing public perception and approval of water concessions in Japan by comparing two regions: Miyagi Prefecture, which implemented water concessions, and western Shizuoka Prefecture, which indefinitely postponed their implementation. Through questionnaire surveys of 300 residents in each prefecture and probit model analysis, the study found no significant differences in approval rates between the regions, with only 10% of residents understanding concessions in both areas. The analysis revealed that approval was influenced by knowledge of concessions, expectations of water service, and trust in the public sector, with older people and women showing higher disapproval rates. This research represents the first comparative study of regions with divergent political decisions on water concessions, notably finding minimal differences in public response.
