概要 To investigate the use of interpreters who accompanied Brazilian patients in medical settings. In 2019, we conducted a survey using questionnaires and an IC recorder for Brazilian patients, interpreters assisting patients, and doctors at the hospital accepting foreign patients.
Total number of Brazilian patients in the study period was 352. Fifty three percent used hospital interpreters,17.0% used interpreters who accompanied patients, 25.9% did not use interpreters. The number of cases with valid data where patients,, interpreter and doctor consented to participate was only 5 among 60 subjects. We are going to discuss with the hospital why the effective date could not be collected, and consider the feasibility of additional surveys in the near future.
