発表者・共同発表者 This paper aims to present the conventional and alternative ways how the local and national government entities have conventionally or alternatively provided financial support to their local railway enterprises in Japan. We further evaluated the welfare effect of public sector involvement in local railway enterprise. Results show that public sector involvement may produce some welfare effect as they carry public interest in the planning and management of the local railway services.
