概要 Oro-nasal dysfunctions caused by cancer treatments like chemotherapy and radiotherapy often complicate nutritional management due to their unpredictable nature. A survey conducted across 397 Designated Cancer Care Hospitals in Japan revealed that about two-thirds responded. The survey showed that nurses and dietitians regularly assess food intake, and common dysfunctions include hypo/ageusia, hypergeusia, and hyperosmia. Despite this, no standardized coping strategies for these dysfunctions exist. The variability in symptoms both between and within individuals complicates management. The study underscores the need for standardized assessment and management methods to improve patient quality of life (QOL).
