概要 Constipation is often diagnosed from various symptoms, and it is not clear prevalence of functional constipation in Japan. In this study, we investigated the frequency of young children with defecation problems in Japan, based on the diagnostic criteria of Rome3, and the relationship between functional constipation and food intake of young children.The prevalence of functional constipation among children was as much as 20% in Japan. These children had a habit of eating low amounts of fruit and vegetables and consuming high amounts of fruit juice and sugary foods.
